Angry *bangs head againts wall*

Okay, this is what i did today.

Pulled my intake, and changed the valve underneath it. Along the way I put in icesharks ground kits, and put an origional airbox back in. Then I kept messing with the throttle stop trying to get it where when it goes back under it's own power it would click when you moved it again.

Once i set it there it idles around 1500. So I put it back to where it was.

Oh, put in a new 02 sensor, plugs, cap, rotor ect.

Still idles like crap and hunts for an idle in drive.

what else, oh the valve on the back of the airbox, fitting pointed to the passenger side, where does it go to?

also when I pulled off the intake on top of the back of the head there was a thremo switch with two vaccum lines on it, front one is disconnected and I cannot find where it goes.

If this thing ever idles right and passes emmisions, i'll faint.

(or buy someone lots and lots of beer for helping me figure it out)

to think i planned on haviong the interior replaced and driving this on a daily basis come july

The extra opening on the airbox goes to your belt plastic cover to keep em nice and cool.

not the opening in the airbox, on the back bracket for the airbox, there is a valve or something there with 2 say 8mm id vaccum lines, the one on the right goes to a t where 1 part hooks to the bottom of the intake, the one on the left (facing engine) I have nothing plugged into

it's supposedly a crank case breather that is not on the late engines, or so i think i've figured out. where does the hose that doesnt go back to the intake boot go? does it go just under the back of the intake manifold?

That's the thing that has two 10mm bolt holes in it that the rear-most air box bracket bolts into, right? If so, I just was playing around this area in my car; think one end of the hose goes to the brake booster and the other to the intake, but I'll double check for you.

btw, plugged the small line up under the intake that i couldn't figure out where it went and this one wasn't pulling any vaccum (at least not while cold)

so I don't think either are really the root of my problem

just something i want to get sorted out.

a decent idle at the right speed and passing emissions is all i ask for.

I'm beginning to think this is becoming an expensive project that i will never get to enjoy

This is an automatic?

You don't mess with the throttle valve stop once it's set up. The idle adjustment is the large "screw" down in the hole on the top of the throttle body. The TPS is adjusted with it's retaining screws.

I've posted the vacuum line diagram in the past. Do a search. You should never just plug a vacuum line hole. Every line has a place as part of the emmission controls.

Yes it's an automatic,

I plugged it because it was under the intake, coming off a temp switch by the firewall and not connected to anything. It's gotta to be better to have it plugged than suckin air. It hasn't been hooked to anything since I got the car and I couldn't figure out where it went.

I don't think the throttle valve stop has been set right since I got the car, that's part of the problem, it wasn't being contacted to begin with. That's why I was messing with it.

I could push the throttle back to make it contact but it wasn't returning to that position on it's own.
