I gotta go with the 1983! I have only owned one 944 and it was a 1983. What a kick to drive, no power and it didn't weight anything. It just did everything well! I even liked the dash! Best wishes -Jay Gratton

I would have to say I love driving the 83 where tighter roads and tossibility is a factor. I can really feel the difference in weight from the 86. Now when I'm feeling evil the Turbo is my sled of choice...more brute power...like an 83 on steroids. They are both a pleasure to drive.

Hello to all following this thread. I am going to cast my vote for the 1988 944 Turbo "Silber Rosa" (with the funky plaid seats). It was the precursor of what was to come in the form of the 1989 Turbo (an "S" model sans inscription). The bump from 217 to 250 in base hp alone is worth the vote in my book. And let's not forget the improved suspension and larger brakes....
