Default Engine Vibration

Im getting vibration from my engine, but it only occurs above 4k. Its quite loud and fast, almost like a buzzing sound. Im thinking it might be the motor mounts, but they look good and my car runs perfectly below 4k rpm. Maybe misaligned balance shafts?

Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks.

One of the balance shaft pulleys is off a keyway. Was it resealed recently?

i had my bottom balance shaft off before and it had a vibration right at 4k that i could only really feel in the shifter and the clutch pedal. it turned out my shaft sprocket was on the end of the shaft backwards which made it be off by about 6 or 7 teeth.

there was also alot of noise. it really seriously sounded like the car was at 6k when it was only at 3k. once i got past 4krpms it went smooth again. weird huh.

I was planning on checking my cam belt 6k miles later. I might as well do it now and get the balance shafts fixed. Ive had this problem for a while, but i rarely go over 3.5k rpm, so it was never too much of a hassle.

Hopefully itll get sorted out, thanks guys!

well if you let that vibration go for very long you start needing to replace things thatotherwise you would never have to replace. my power steering pump broke right off of the pedistal that is attached to the block, then a motor mount went, then oil started leeking form my cam housing, then my catalitic converter fell off (no seriously i was driving then suddenly CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR it was just dragging ont he ground, and last but not least the grounds in your car all shake loose and your starter starts to fail then your radio turns itself on and off and your windshielf squirters stop working. so there you go. aint such a "little" vibration now is it.

man i didnt realise how messed up my car got from that vibration untill i just typed it all out there.

Oh, i know, this is why ive been driving like a grandma. I normally shift at 3k and I only feel the vibration over 4k rpm. So it's not that serious at the moment. But ill get to it as soon as possible.

I'm sure that your car will feel better if you let the engine sing more often.. But fix the problem first..
