Newbie Test Pipe Install
I am recently started working on my 89 951 and I am inexperienced. I tried to install a burst test pipe yesterday. I removed the heat shield but had trouble reaching the 3 bolts at the top of the pipe (bottom of the header). Should be I going at this from the bottom. Any help is appreciated in described the steps to replace.

Try http://www.clarks-garage.com/ , if not do a search in the rennlist archives and I'm sure something will come up.

The bursch test pipe for 951's is designed to work with the stock plumbing. You should be going at this from the bottom with about 18 inches of extensions and a swivel socket. The swivel socket (I believe that you need a 13mm) has a built in u-joint that allows you to attack the bolt at an angle, but is compact enough to fit. You can pick one up at sears for about $6. This socket is useful for countless other jobs on the 944 and will, along with your magnetic pick up tool, become a trusted friend.
