Question 944 moonroof problem

Just a few days ago the moonroof of my recently bought 1985.5 944 stopped working. I don't believe it is the motor because it was working the previous night perfectly and the next morning it refused to operate, without any sound from the motor. I believe it is the moonroof relay. Now, when i press the moonroof button, the fuse for my gauges fries. I've done that twice already. That is the only fuse it affects. Two nights ago, it worked for about 2 seconds, enough time to put it back in the down position, but then it did not work and that is the first time it fried the gauge fuse. If anyone knows exactly what it is or has had a similiar problem post or e-mail me.

Sounds similar to a problem I had. There are in fact three fuses for the sunroof, plus the micro switch plus the operating switch. So quite a few things to go wrong. One of the fuses doubles with instruments.
Because it is fusing it is obviuosly shorting somewhere. When looking for the reason why my legs would not retract I disturbed the wires near the motor and shorted it. These wires had been resting on the join of the rear wing and wheel arch, and over the years rubbed away at it enough to break and finally short.
So, look for bad wires.
