Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I used a pneumatic hand grinder, similar to a Dremel tool, and ground off the head of the bolt. It took an hour or so, but the shaft came out with my fingers when done. I ALWAYS replace the cam bolt when I remove it; they only cost $3.

Drill out the hole enough for the head to come off, remove the sprocket, throw a stud extractor on it, and--have a replacement ready to go!!

I used the original version hex head as my replacement.

You need to drill the head off, which means a bit nearly as large as the bolt head at least.

Uh yeah.........concrete drill bit no good. Switch to a metal bit. While it is less challanging, it makes up for in speed.

The bolt is a 10mm bolt. You only need to go just over 3/8's and wiggle the drill. The head of the bolt will come off and you can then remove the rotor drive. Once that is off the remaining bolt will turn out by hand.

I've drilled many a bolt head off destroyed fasteners. The only "trick" is to drill up to and no more than the diameter of the bolt itself, not the head size (slightly under the diameter of the bolt is preferable), but you must be drilling dead center of the fastener to achieve the proper result. Make sure your not drilling into the bolt head any deeper than the head. The center of a regular twist drill can go deeper than the head, but not the full diameter of the drill, or, if your off center, you couldl be drilling into parts you really don't want to destroy. If you do just this in this manner, and head hasn't "fallen" off, you can sometimes smack it from the side, and get it to finish breaking off. 3/8” Drill bit is the largest I would recommend stepping up to. Drill as straight as you possibly can. Use a 90 degree motor or 90 degree motor adapter if you are drilling it while still on the car. A regular twist drill bit is the way to go.

Pic of 1st (hopefully last) cambolt I had to drill out. I drilled a bit to deep, but was pretty well centered

Good Luck!!

I have a set of extractors if you need to use some once you get that head off. Also, you can take a chisel and cut a groove, the deeper the better. Then just use a flathead and unscrew it. Once the head is off, it will take very little pressure to unscrew it. I have 12pt drivers if you need, too.
