OK, that explains a lot. I'm 5'10" and long waisted (probably should be over 6', but someone stole my legs as a kid and replaced them with a shorter model ).

Anyway seeing your bar that is the same place I'd put mine.

Think I could run a 1.75" diameter bar so that the top was level with the top of the dash? Is there enough space behind the gauges?

It will be tight. In my case, I'm making a custom CF instrument cluster and that will allow me to fit my gauges quite easily under the bar (I hope ). I don't think the stock gauges will fit, but they might. I'll take a photo of the inside of the dash at the instrument cluster and post it once I get the dash mounted up.

I have the mounting tabs tacked in place, and my welder was supposed to do the final welds yesterday, but it was so bloody hot he asked to quit after an hour. I can't blame him and I know he's not at all the type to wimp out. It's cooler today and I'll probably try to do the final welds on the brackets today and get the dash a final fitting. Then I'm going to start in on fixing the cracks and covering it with flocking. Still debating the filler for the cracks, but I'm close to a decision.

This space reserved for pics of my 1983 NA 944 which i just purchased yesterday.. Hopefully I can get some digipics up this evening. The interior is where I will be spending ALL my money for this car for quite some time.

You know, I like the center console without the lame as hell pasted on carpet. I guess in the 80s the pasted on carpet may have been stylish, but now I think it's just garrish.

rockfan4, that is just terrible. all of you boast about your spiffy LEATHER interiors, and maybe thats fine and dandy where its a bit cooler, but i got brand spanking new cloth race seats that do not physically bond to my *** due to heat! arizona sucks in the summer
