Default The S is finally fixed!

Wow! I was to the point I thought this car would never act normal. Feared the computer was broken. Northwest Imports, a shop the local PCA guys recommended here, found the idle problem I've been having to come from the cam position sensor. Which, is probably why the idle has been a problem for so long (not many shops get to work on a bunch of S's). The car pegs at 950 now without AC and has a slight 10-20rpm drop with the AC on when returning to idle. It is amazing how much nicer it is to drive in stopped traffic with AC for once! Now I think I'll keep the car .

I had that problem, except it was a broken wire at the connector to the hall sender.
Took me forever to find it.
Caused hard starts and lack of power.

Mine was idling very rough and dropping to 0rpm and recovering every time I let it back to idle. It is a different car now!

Good feeling, fixing something that was causing so much grief! Glad you found the problem.

Where is this cam sensor located?

Directly behind the cam sprocket. I noticed that the insulation on the wiring connector to mine is a little frayed. I need to address that.

Yep, on the S it has a clip..near the power steering resovoir. In my case it wasn't actually the sensor but the wires to the sensor which were shorting...replaced all of it nonetheless.
