Default Nice drive in the 24S

So, yesterday I decided that I would fix the terrible vibration comming from the clutch. One week ago (before we bought the car) I looked at the balance shaft timing and determined it was fine. I figured that someone had wasted the clutch years ago and replaced it alone leaving the extra rubber in the pressure plate throwing it out of balance. However, that was not the case. When we pulled the torque tube we discovered that the end of the input shaft was almost ground in half . Luckily we have the old 944 parts car sitting outside. I say we, my wife decided she wanted to know all she could about the car before we have unexpected problems. Boy did she get more than she bargened for. (Shes now more cooler than I thought) So we swapped the tubes. We also replaced the pilot brg the clutch looked new. Durring the whole task we learned a valuable lesson for the rest of you. An automatic torque tube cannot be made safely to work in a straight drive car.close, but no bannana. we finished up last night about 10pm. We started yesterday about 10am. not to bad. I usually need alittle incouragement before I pull a torsion bar housing. Thanks Keith ! So now on to the good part. Today I got up whatched sunday morning the TV show ate a good ham and egg breakfast then we took the car for a drive and an after noon picnic. The car is great, the day was great. And it means so much more when your better half is there with you to help duke out the problems with the car . Life is Good !

Jim, I'm not sure I comprehend the details, but from what I can see your wife is a true prize and the subject of envy for many other car guys. Treat her like a jewel, enjoy the driving, and keep us updated!
