Default Brake upgrade?

So I have an 86 951, and I switched to late offset control arms, but currently still have the early hubs/spindles. However I have a set of hubs and spindles from an 87 944NA. Possibly going to Cayenne calipers on 951..... I know the 951 calipers won't bolt to the NA spindles, but if I switch to cayenne calipers and have to use a mounting bracket anyway, then will it matter? anything else to consider?

My GTO/Dodge brake combo really is for early NAs, and then someone else made it work on a late NA by grinding the caliper mount and using a turbo rotor.
On an early NA you could get a 330mm version of the Dodge rotor and use the 05-06 GTO caliper bracket to make that work.

But that doesn't really help you since the 86 951 hub is completely different than the earlier NA hub

For your question, no it doesn't really matter which hub/spindle setup you use (unless you're buying a bracket that only fits one of course).

I was looking for brake swap ideas earlier this week. Can the Cayenne rotors be used with the n/a calipers?

No. Cayenne rotors are 32mm front/28mm rear thickness. NA calipers are made for 20mm front/rear.
