Tire Rub in fender well.
The setup.
koni adj. all around, 250#weiltmeister springs up front, car is lowered as far as it will go in rear and front. 235 40 16 tires all around. Stock everything else. I am experiencing tire rub in hard turns. The lip of the fender is hitting the outer edge of the tire.
What do i need to upgrade to avoid this. Ride quality is not a huge concern. I am on a budget, so will be buying used parts more than likely, probably from ebay.
Thanks in advance to all.

Roll the fenders.

No you cannot roll CF. Rolling is a process by where you flatten the lip of the inside of the fender. There is about a 1/2" area there that needs to be flattened.

They make a "tool" to do it, though I think most just use a big piece of pipe and SLOWLY back the car up. Ask about rolling fenders in the turbo forum, I bet someone has pics. Never had to do it myself, the PO had always done it first.

Baseball bats work well, but you should really try to find someone experienced to show you how it's done.
Essentially, you insert the bat between the tire and the fender and push down while an assistant rolls the car back and forth. You push on the rotating bat as it moves along to shape the fender. Hard to explain, easy to show.

I understand. Think I'll leave this one alone for now until I see how the CF fenders will work out.
THanks very much for all the response on your part Matt.

Nick, I'm running 225/40/18's on 8" wide rims in front. I get a slight rub at full left hand lock. I just replaced struts, caster blocks, and ball joints and I think an alignment will take care of it.
Maybe the 245's are too wide?

Too tall not too wide. Nick, what size tire are you running? 245/40/18?

What is the offset of your wheels? How much camber are you running? 245mm tires aren't even close to too wide that one should have to worry about rolling fenders.
I mean, just this weekend I mounted some 17x9 ET55 Cup2's with 275/40 Toyo's on the front of my turbo. Despite my modest -1.5* degree camber and stock fenders they didn't rub, even when driven semi-aggresively. Had heard rumors this was possible, but didn't believe it till I tried.

A good track/auto-x alignment should change the camber enough to tuck the tires just inside the fenders.
I rolled the fenders on my old 951, I think I used a piece of 2x4 and just (as gently as I could) bent that lip up, it really was pretty easy, no paint breaks either. But, I still had tire rub until I got the alignment. If you don't have the performance alignment, you really need it, it's absolutely necessary for track driving in 944s.

I got that after upgrading to Weltmeister #200 springs. Rubs only when turning right. I am running 205 50 R17's up front on 55mm offset wheels with 1 degree negative camber and still get a rub.
I have ordered the spacers from Paragon and will let you know if those solve the problem.
