OEM windscreen "tinted"?
Hi all, I need to have the windscreen on my 84 replaced and according to the official Porsche parts catalog, the part is 477-845-011-E ("Windscreen tinted") or 477-845-011-F ("Windscreen tinted green top tint"). To complicate things further, the current windshields for sale are numbered 477-845-011-G (also "tinted") as the replacement for windshields 477-845-011-A (which I don't find in the original catalog) and 477-845-011-E.
Mostly I'm confused by the only optioned being tinted, because my windscreen came with no tint whatsoever. What does Porsche mean by "tinted"?
Edit: My windshield is a Sekurit BTW. Not sure is this is OEM or not.

The tint is, I believe, limited to the top 10 cm. or so of the glass. Sekurit is an OE supplier to Porsche. To confirm the correct part number, give a call to your friendly neighborhood Porsche dealer's part dept.

Front windshields, by law, cannot be fully tinted.
I am fairly certain that is what is being referred to as "tint" is the top 10cm like Kevin mentioned. Some windshields come with the top band tinted, others do not.
Product photos are often not actual photos, instead stock photos, sometimes not even from the same model/make and should not be depended upon as actual.
You should call the supplier if you have questions. It could also possibly be some sort of UV coating.

Hi, no worries. I replaced my windshield with Sekurit one this August and had the same worry. This green tint is there on your current glass, you just don't see it, it's "thermal" glass, you won't see it at all when it's installed...
Regarding the actual tint there can be one on the top 10cm of the glass, I went for the one without it and with internal antenna.
