Default found coolant leak(what the)

I had a major coolant leak the other while driving and shut it down instantly.Had just left work so the engine was not even at operating temperature.Had the car towed and finally got into it today.Found the strangest thing wrong with it.The hose from the heating regulator that attaches to the engine came off with the pipe stud still attached. The pipe stud just pulled out of the housing on the engine. Has anybody else had this happen? Dose anyone have a idea on fitting the pipe sleve back into the housing or should i get another housing with the pipe attacheed?

Gee, that's a new one, at least for me.

I assume you're talking about the part labeld 23 below. Does it look like it failed because of corrosion?

Sounds to me like a weld/braze joint broke.

You need to pull the intake to get to the flange, but you should be able to braze the pipe back.

I currently have a 951 torn down, and the pipe had some pin-holes wjere the hose fits over the pipe. I used a pre-fluxed brazing rod (Home Depot) and a propane torch. Worked like a charm.

The only real problem I see is finding a new gasket.

Sounds like the problem isn't that uncommon.

How about some RTV for that.
