enlarging the throttle body on a NA
Hey guys, I was thinking of installing a larger throttle body on my NA, Has anyone done this??? did you notice a difference??? Thanx

True you won't notice any real gains until you change out to an M.A.F. spend your money their first. Then get the throttle body enlarged. those two mods would give you some nice low end power increases. If you don't have a throttle cam yet get that. No extra power but you will swear you gained 10hp with the improved response.

Idea's here is one. I went and looked at S.F.R. website. You can get a 52mm twin throttle body for better flow. Sorry I didn't read your sig. Looks like you are well on your way to more hp. So I would also pick up their new intake manifold. It is compatible with stock TB but with their model you will get quite a bit more airflow. This looks like a nice step to what you have going fast924s.

unless you have a MAF kit on the car, boring the throttle body out 3-4mm will not increase power in the least bit. The factory AFM is regulating the amount of air passing into the manifold, not the throttle body. Believe me, I had one on my old car and after hundreds of dollars spent dynotuning that thing, it wasn't worth the 280 bucks I spent to bore it.

Remember me?
Boring the Tb decreases low end power. The same is true for smaller venturis in a carb. Great low end, but it suffocates at the top end.
Why don't you get a spare TB from Todd84something, bore it out, and you can flip back and forth to feel the difference.

I've got a ported TB, came with the car - can't say what it did, never driven one without it, but I seriously doubt it does a thing, the NA is just so slow and gutless no matter what's done to it.

Cool thanks guys, I think I will make it bigger and see what happens, As for head work I have a spare head sitting around, What do you think, mild port and polish, 3 angle valve job, titanium valve retainers, cam, and some race springs???

All that head work would likely gain you a little higher redline, but even that's limited by bottom end rotating mass. Don't expect much power gain, I'd say 10hp is a very liberal estimate of max gain.
