Default 924 4 Speed Shift Rod vs 944 016 Shift rod

The 944 Im building was originally an auto and as a result I need to salvage as many manual pieces as possible from my abandoned 924. Last piece I have left to remove is the shift rod however really, really cant be bothered going to the effort of pulling transmissions if it cant be used. I am aware of the fact that the early 4 speed shift rod is a different length to the 016 boxed cars shift rod - does anyone have any measurements for either handy? Im hoping the shape of the two rods is similar [ie bent in the same places] and its as simple as lengthening the 924 rod 2"/50mm etc

Any help is appreciated

Cheers

The early 924 shift rod (2 piece) is a different design from the 944 (one piece), they are not interchangeable.

Maybe you are referring to the snailshell 5-speed shift linkage? The 924 4-speed shift is indeed a single bar just like the 5-speed, and yes, it's just length.

RACR is on the money - im talking about early 4 speed and not the snail shell 5 speed. My confusion is around the length as Lindsey Racing lists the rod as being the same for all 924 and 944 which is obviously cant be. Any idea on the length difference 924RACR?

They're probably thinking only of the 2.5L aka 924S.

Not an option sadly; they may be plentiful in the US but they are next to impossible to find in Australia and are usually attached either to a running car or a whole manual conversion kit.
