Default Radio/Sunroof Relay Access

I have a 1984 944 which the combination power sunroof lift and radio relay located above my right leg under the driver's (left) side.

There is a black plastic cover with two screws to access it. When I remove those screws, I can pull the cover back and see the relay, but I can't get the cover off!
The cover goes under the carpet trim on the center console and I can't pull it out. Can I safely remove and replace the carpet or is it glued down? I couldn't wedge a screwdriver under the carpet to peel it back.
Or maybe there is a way to pull that plastic trim piece off?

I see posts where people have gotten to the relay. How have they done it?

thank you so much! I couldn’t see any screw hole in the carpet until I got my head against the floor.

I have 3 screws out and I am hunting for the 4th. It almost pulls out but I’m pretty sure I am missing a screw location. I felt all around and can’t find it. I’ve attached a photo of the ones I removed.

Put the bottom one back. Behind the two plastic caps by the cover are the screws.

Popping those off with a flathead did the trick. I feel like an idiot now which means I'm learning!
I removed the relay by prying it off its connector with the flat head screwdriver and then tested it with my bench top 12v supply. I hear no click and got no continuity reading on pins 1 and 30 when applying power across pins R and 31. Unless I'm misreading the wiring diagram on the relay, it seems to be dead.

Now I can search for a replacement. Too bad they are NLA.
