xsboost90 i have a paint question...
Dan,
im planning on getting 911R tail lights soon, to add onto my vintage outlaw look, like these..
anyways, they are fiberglass.
what do you do when you paint fiber glass, as far as prep, primer etc?
do you even primer them?
i will be using a single stage enamel paint, like i used on my front valence fog light hole covers.
im debating on ordering them this week so i can have em for the taj..
then again im also debating on getting talbot mirrors this week so i can have em for the taj.. mirrors will be about 400.. the lights just as much.. dont think i could afford both right now.. whats a guy to do
(yes.. im determined to kick some 911 *** in the concourse )

yes, use a sandable primer to fill in sand scratches and imperfections. Sand the fiberglass with fine paper first to get the gel coat as smooth as possible, and sand the primer the same way, with 1500 grit or so.

yeah, scuff em up a bit for the primer, some 320 or something. then primer w/ a filler primer, eurethane primer if possible. They make primer called featherfil made by evercoat i believe, best for fiberglass. then 500 wetdry before you spray. Prep everything well cuz fiberglass attracts dust alot!!

TonD.. you would actually be suprised with how heavy the original tail lamp assemblies are.. (thats why they went to these in the 911R)
thanks Dan. you know where i can get some eurethane primer in a spray can?
