Default Radiator mounts loose

I installed new mounts on the bottem of the radiator but for some reason the radiator isn't coming up high enough, am I missing something 🤔 also i got this radiator a few years ago from a dismantler my car is a automatic was thier a hight difference between the pre 85.5 autos? Maybe the lower support is not put in right the actual metel strip but I didn't touch that part 🤔?

I have a 86 NA auto.

Yes, the early (82-85/1) 944s had a radiator that had smaller dimensions than the 85/2 and newer cars.

You could try shimming up the lower mounts with large washers below the rubber grommets. Did you use new grommets? Perhaps the old ones have shrunk due to heat and age. I don’t know how much distance you have to “make up” but you may have to go as far as developing a 3D printed part. Just some ideas..

He put in new mounts, perhaps the late model ones are smaller (to accommodate the larger radiator) and that is what he ended up with, which mis-match the perhaps early radiator he has.

I've thought about making some sort of pedestal to raise the radiator. I looked at the pre 85.5 design a much better design IMO.
