would just the airbox fit off the newer car? (in case i win this auction)
Pet shows PN 944 110 106 03 for the 84 and PN 944 110 012 07 for the 87, but they look near identical to me. I think you will need to cap off a hose fitting on the 87 air box that doesn't exist on the 84. IIRC the factory recommended capping off this port on the later cars and sold the proper caps for that purpose.
