Talking Alternative to buying an expensive OEM O2 sensor inside here!

Ok, it's another one of my information filled and non-pointless posts If you have a malfunctioning oxygen sensor and don't wanna spend the 150-300 bucks for a factory Bosch replacement (California car owners will get a new ******* ripped for the price of the 1-state specific O2 sensor)

Ok now for the alternative; Bosch produces 3-wire O2 sensors that are universal for our 944s. I have even seen these sensors work on 928s too, but not sure about 911s yet since I haven't had my hands on a O2 sensor from a 911. The O2 sensors are not a direct bolt though. You will have to splice the wires on your previous one and insert them into the universal wiring harness supplied...it's really easy, just follow the instructions in the kit!!! Anyways...

The part#'s are:

Bosch 15725 - Universal 3-wire O2 sensor w/ universal wiring harness. (NOTE: This product is outdated and a replacement is available see below number) You can pick this up at www.thepartsbin.com or Paragon Products ( www.paragon-products.com )

Bosch 15726 - This is the replacement to "last year's model" state above. It does the same thing, same function and has the same type of wiring harness. This O2 sensor is more readily available at places like Pep Boys and Autozone as well as the Parts Bin.

Anymore questions about O2 sensors let me know. I hope this helps any questions or concerns out there. Oh! BTW, the going price for these should be anywhere from $50-65 not including tax.

Andy

I don't know how to break it to you, but here goes;

This isn't news, we've been doing it for years! Then again, there isn't much in the Paragon catalog that we don't know about. Thanks for thinking of us though!

Actually according to Bosch, the part number for 944 universal O2 sensor is 15735, not 15725.

Yep - again, for the "n"th time..... If you do a search (even without this post) in THIS FORUM ALONE (excluding the other 94X/951 Rennlist Forums) - I think new users will find about 83 threads and several hundred posts archived for reference?

Couldn't be any worse than "DME Relay" being recommended for every problem from soup to nuts. Wonder how many threads that is mentioned in.

you know, I thought Rennlist is a techboard where you can share your thoughts and technical solutions to problems with someone's car and tell about innovations that you have discovered, or alternatives that are cheaper to repair your car; not a place where you get railed on just for posting your thoughts and ideas about update. Forgive me for being repetitive...I'm sure someone will stumble upon my topic later on and be thankful for disclosing the part numbers to help them find the O2 sensors for the cheapest price.

Andy,

I think you did the right thing in posting this... sometimes other threads post incomplete or inaccurate information... yours was very thorough. And sometimes it's nice to read the same information in several threads, to know that someone didn't post something wrong.

Keep posting!
