Unhappy 944 Fuel Leak Questions

Hello all this is my first post here, with a (somewhat) recently acquired 1986 944 base. I started it up for the first time in a couple months (Michigan winter things), and it seemed fine, started to warm up, and then I saw smoke, smelled fuel, and cut the engine.
Loose fuel seems to have been coming out from just the area where the fuel pressure regulator is (so above cylinder 4-ish) - There are some images below, but I doubt they'll be of much help to anyone - I've heard suggestions that this could be either the Fuel Rail or the Fuel Pressure Regulator. I'm also aware there are some diagnostic tests I could perform to determine exactly which part has the issue, HOWEVER, I will unfortunately be out of town for about 2 weeks starting today, and can't really get around to testing that now. I do want to get the parts ordered, and am considering getting both the Fuel Rail AND FPR.

So I'm just looking for advice on parts more than anything, since I really don't even know as much about my own car as I would like

I did search around a little to find information, and have conflicting information for one of my questions: Do I need a 3.0 bar or 2.5 bar FPR?

To add to that question, should I just get an adjustable one if I have plans to send this into spec 944 racing? The car is already stripped and caged and I has been used as a track car last summer.

I'm also wondering if I should just get the rail or also invest in new, upgraded fuel lines and all, like this:

Lastly, I was leaning towards OEM, but to maybe save a little money I might go aftermarket; would any of you be able to confirm whether the following parts do indeed fit on my 944 (Engine code: M44.07)
This Fuel Rail?

This FPR (does not say pressure)?

Here's the two that prompted the 2.5 vs 3.0 question for me:

I'd appreciate any bit of advice and help on this, thank you!

First off, welcome, you're in a good place to get help.

Here's some of the first things I would advise.

- Go here and download a copy of the parts catalog for your year car: https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/

PET (what that's called) will help you find part numbers to verify what you're looking for. In the case of your fuel pressure regulator, you're looking for part number 94411019803. From what I remember when I was looking for my car(s), these are hideously expensive from Porsche, if they're not NLA (No Longer Available, you'll come to love that term). I ended up buying an adjustable FPR from Lindsey Racing and it's been fine.

If your fuel rail is leaking, which can happen, that's part number 94411008020, but I'm not sure you'll find one new. Best bet would be place like Plyhammer.

However, at this age for your car, it might just be the fuel lines, both the feed and return to the rail, and the little one to the damper. The damper should also be checked. New fuel hoses for each of those places is good insurance for avoiding engine fires.

Finally, if you haven't already found Clark's Garage, that's a pretty fantastic resource for troubleshooting.

Good luck
