Default European Mobil one???

I just saw "european car" Mobil 1 today. I think it is like a 0w 50. What would this do for my car?

I've run mine on this since new (actually 0-40). trouble is it's expensive over here @ £33 per UK gallon. Exchange rate at the moment is about 1.70 to the dollar.
We DO REALLY get ripped off over here on our petrol and oil prices.
No denying that it's an excellent oil tho.

944_S_TYPE, I believe it was either 0W-40 or 5W-50 that you saw. In Europe I use the 5W-50 Mobil1 exclusively on my 951 for better all round protection given the lower viscosity at start up and the high range. There are two versions of it, too. The regular label and the "gold" label which is the latest. In Europe the Mobil1 oils are made in France.

New Porsche cars are fitted with the 0W-40 by the factory which some time ago was discussed here among several European 944 enthusiasts and our conclusion was that new cars are built to higher tolerance levels of oil retention and can take that much thinner oil.

For our older cars, a 5W is about as low as you need to go.

Hmmmmm, Would a 0 weight oil not be good for a "older" motor? mabyee it would develop leaks due to thinner viscosity? The stuff I saw was "european car " 0-40. You are right.

It is a common belief that lower viscosity oil will cause valve lifter clicking in 968s. Also unless you live where it is really cold in the winter you do not need low viscosity oil. Looks like you live in Florida so feed it some 15W50
