Default Cup holder

Been on a mission to sort out a cup holder for my 924. Read lots of posts on various options.

I started thinking about these screws that hold the lower dash recently when I disassembled it for cleaning. Pics below. Then I ran across this website for customized phone holders ….

https://coursemotorsports.com/collections/phone-mounts-1

i need a cup holder more than I need a phone mount.

Very similar bracketing to what I was thinking to utilize one or both screws. I hadn’t fabricated with metal or plastic before unfortunately.

Has anyone tried to utilize these screws for a cup holder? Seems like a natural opportunity. I haven’t seen them utilized before.

It might be possible, but that doesn't seem like it would provide enough support once you would have the weight of a filled container hanging off. Best ones that I have seen use the inner seat rail and have the floor for support.

I use a cup holder that mounts to the passenger seat rail. The location isn't ideal, but it works.

If you're looking to convert a phone mount into a cup holder, maybe look at Rennline's 944 mount: https://www.rennline.com/exactfit-ma...4-sku-pm01-23/

I have one (for a phone), and it would place a cup holder in a ergonomically practical location. Additionally, it's hardy enough to support the weight of a phone, so it should be fine for a cup of liquid.

I installed two bicycle water bottle holders in the back of my former daily driver, an Audi Avant wagon.
Would also work in a 924 / 944 chassis.

The wedge works for me! I use it when I need it (shoved between the passenger seat and the center console) and put in in the rear seats when I don't.

There are some other more refined designs. But you get the idea. Works great, even with 44 oz drinks.
