Default Noisy Lifters

I replaced the cam shaft assembly and the lifter chattter is still there. What are the chances that both assemblys would produce the same noise. Also I beleive there is a ball and spring valve inside the head (near #1 cylinder) that might be stuck and also could be what is causing oil not to pressurize the lifters.

Also does anyone know to test a lifter to see if it is functional before installing it?

All suggestion welcomed.

I was going to autocross this weekend, but think I better get the noise problem solved first.

You can test a lifter by pushing down on the center of it. If it moves then it's a bad lifter.

I had all of mine replaced. Man it made the BIGGEST difference. From rattling like a machine gun to purring like a tiger cub....

New exhaust and manifold gaskets replaced along with studs and new copper nuts.

Nope, it's not the manifold.

It depends on what's causing it. Old lifters won't. Low oil pressure might. What do you mean by cam shaft assembly?

Camshaft assembly is the part that bolts on top of the head and contains the lifters and cam.

Oil pressure is 5 bar on start-up and drops to 3 bar when the temp reaches the second mark.

I had a really bad tick from a few lifters on my 9000. I pulled the motor, put a turbo on it, put the motor back in and it now makes no noise. I didn't take anything apart on the engine, didn't even pull the valve cover.

Turbos are a good, multi-purpose tool.

Hehe.

Pulled off the cam assembly this morning and found two bad lifters. The button can be pushed down very easy.
