Default 951 Dome Light

This may not be the right forum for this, but does anyone know where you can buy an actual Porsche dome light for a 951? The part # is 823947105B. I thought I had ordered one from OEM parts but what arrived is a Hella. It's not the same build as what they show in their photo. I've already installed a Hella and it's really poor quality. The bulb fits very loosely. It literally bounces around in the fixture and loses contact/flickers. Other than that it seems okay, but I hate using a questionable part in the car.

Thanks

Have you tried bending the metal tabs that hold the bulb inward a bit to tighten it up?

I thought about that but I'm not sure bending the tabs will close the gap. Unless I return my second one I could experiment with it. I'll net almost nothing returning it so it's worth trying.

There are several size "festoon" bulbs, perhaps you just need the bigger size bulb. Be careful of the phrase "OEM". It means Original Equipment Manufacturer. What this means is if a company made a clip that was on a car - OE (Original Equipment - what came on the car from the factory or Porsches replacement) - it can now make an engine and call it OEM. You always want OE not OEM when available. Having said that looking at a Porsche dealers website it pictures a Hella part so Hella is probably OE on the Porsche. Even though it is OE it is now made in China to a lesser quality then it was back in the 1980's. If the unit fits in the hole nicely I really think you just need a bigger bulb, take yours to the auto parts store and look for a longer one.

Thanks for the information. If the bulb was slightly longer I'd have no problem with the fixture. I'll take it to the auto parts store and see if they have on that is slightly bigger.
