PSA, Model airplane glue...
This is just a PSA. Model airplane (in this case for car models LOL) glue, the type that smells like fingernail polish remover, brushes on, and "melts" the plastic together. Just... never... ever... ever let it get close to your car. No matter how good an idea it sounds like, or how much you think you need to try it. Just don't. And for SURE don't put the bottle on your ashtray door, with the cap on, but not screwed down. And for SURE for SURE DON'T accidentally knock it over. Hypothetically, it WILL eat any plastic it touches. EAT IT! Like a glutton at a buffet.
In other news, the ashtrays, of all things, are still available to buy new. And I have a uniquely textured ashtray for sale cheap if anyone is interested. Unrelated of course.
I now return you to your normally scheduled programming.

Love it!
I’ll offer my own PSA regarding WD40.
Don’t use it to clean engines. To be clear… it works great! Far better than “Simple Green” (which can etch aluminum if you use it for too long without diluting it). But… it IS a light oil.
I filled my backyard with smoke when I turned my car on for the first time after the rebuild.

This product has low oral toxicity. Swallowing may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This product is an aspiration hazard. If swallowed, can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death.
WD-40 and Contact Cement... absolutely under-appreciated household products with 101 uses! (Rubber cement gets an honorable mention... but really, just skip to the good stuff and use contact cement).
