Default 944 Order Guides

Does anyone have a 1987 order guide?

Nowadays you can infinitely customize a car, but I’m not sure what it was like 40 odd years ago when these cars were new. I generally like to do custom stuff that was available to order at least from the factory, even if my car didn’t have the option.

The googlin’ has yielded very little so far.

I have the 86 Turbo catalog/brochure. Somewhere. Hmmm.... I had it in the hatch during Porschepaloza when I showed the car. Wonder where that got to? Crap, that wasn't cheap. Sorry, that doesn't help with an 87, but when I DO find it, I can take some pictures of 86 for you.

Thanks! Is it as customizable as the new cars?

Depends on the car. Have you tried to customize a Hyandi? LOL Many of the "options" were standard, but there were a good number of real options as well. LSD was one. I have that. Fuch wheels were another, I have those as well. My car looks exactly like the one from the brochure. Same color, the same options (from what you can see in the pictures), same wheels. It's why I bought it! Pinstripes were an option (in my 87 at least), the door "bumper rail" thingie was an option. A full leather interior was an option. I think the headlight washers were standard on the Turbo, but I think it was an option on others. Or maybe in later years? Mr Green Jeans could likely give you a rundown of every option for every year, but I haven't seen him around in a couple of years. I keep hoping someone knows him from outside the forums and can let me know if he's ok. He was a great wealth of knowledge about options and years.

I have the '87 Turbo factory sales brochure mailer that was sent to prospective buyers and lists the options. You can find them on eBay. It's a great piece of memorabilia to have! Headlight washers were an option. Other options were: full leather interiors, leather or cloth sport seals with electric tilt & height adjustment, front passenger seat with electric tilt & height adjustment, Blaupunkt am/fm cassette decks, heated seats front, sport shock absorbers, LSD, metallic paint, cruise control, electric door locks, removable top with electric tilt, electronic security system, rear wiper, ABS, fully adjustable lumbar support for front comfort seats, forged alloy wheels, club sports package, & touring package.

I too like to add options my car wasn't ordered with. I've added the factory alarm system (but have since upgraded it) and the leather center console. Also bought all the parts for headlight washers but have yet to install.

I wonder what the full leather interior entailed and looked like? I was planning to do that with Classic 9 in the summer, so I bet they know too. I’m changing interior colors, so I may as well go all out.

I believe the full leather interior consisted of leather wrap on the lower dashboard and glove box door, the lower door panels, the door armrests, the center console and the upper and lower rear seat cushions.

They are french seams, fairly discreet, no contrast stitching. I have some here and will post a photo soon.

Yes, they had french seams. The A pillar trim was also covered. The option was M981.Front seats in full leather was M983. There was a very good thread where the OP with a 944 Turbo retrimmed his amazing car with new leather from Classic 9 Leathershop but I can't find it. If I do I will share it here.

Ok, I found my Order Guides. I DO have a 1987 944/944 S2/ 944 Turbo order guide! I forgot I'd ordered it for my 87. I also have the Turbo-only guide for 1986. The 87 may not have been the full guide, as there was not an interior or exterior color section.
