1986 A/C low side/high side location?
Ok folks, I think I have the answer for this, but I want to double-check. I think the PO got it wrong. Here is what I have:
This ain't right!
I've found other posts on Pelican that show I'm not the only one who had a PO do this same thing. The PO did a full conversion to R134a, but he has the Hi side fitting on the low side. And as you can see, no Low side fitting at all. If I'm right. From what I understand doing my due diligence Googling, the fatter (top line in this picture) is the low side and the smaller (bottom) line is in fact the Hi side. Is this correct? Or is my info wrong?
I just need someone to confirm before I go to refill the system after I reinstall my compressor.
And any reason this kit wouldn't work to get the right ports in the right lines? ID Quest Ez Chill R-12 to R-134a Retrofit Service Port Adapters - Walmart.com
Thanks!

Someone got the clutch cylinder feed hose wrong too.

Inquiring minds want to know! The original blue-wrapped hose got damaged, it just crumbled. That is a hydraulic hose from O'rielly's. It had to do with the clutch, so I was thinking high pressure. But of course, that hose doesn't see any pressure. Routed it the same way as the orginal.

Piqued, fwiw.
The routing looks fine, the hose material is not correct and may not survive brake fluid exposure.

Brake fluid is weird stuff and I've found it best to stick with the originally specified materials. The hose used may be okay but generally hydraulic hose is rated for oil exposure and not brake fluid. The correct type braided hose (black, no longer blue) is available from Belmetric for less than $10.

I would lean towards getting a length of blue hose also. It can be that expensive other than probably having to order it. Yep on the A/C fitting I would purchase 2 new fitting and install properly. The female side of the adapter has a thread sealer on it so once its used someof the sealer will be worn off. Food for thought.

Actually, now that I remember, that's a fuel injector hose. I was GOING to get hydraulic hose. That was the plan. I took the master in with me so I could get the right size for the nipples. I could NOT get the hydraulic hose over the metal nipple on the master, so I know trying to get it on the plastic nipple of the reservoir was going to break it. This fuel injector hose went one hard, but I could get it on. I wasn't going to use vacuum hose for brake fluid. Not sure how fuel rated hose feels about brake fluid. I'll google up the right hose and order it anyway. Shouldn't be too much.

@Gage it would seem the internet at large agrees with you. The injector hose is not good for brake fluid, hydraulic hose is not good either. No rubber hoses at all it seems! Only magic BLUE ones (or the black version. But I'm tempted to go blue again just so it IS obvious it's brake fluid hose). Turns out you CAN get the old blue hose (they call it Euro OEM Blue) from Belmetric M7X13.5 Blue Braided - European OEM Hose RH7MBN - BelMetric. They do have just plain old black non-braided for about $10 less. M7X13 Smooth - Cohline Brake Hose RH7X13BRAKE / 2337 0613 - BelMetric. I've also found the blue a few other places (but STOCK is like $75-95, wow). Also OEM seems to be 7.5 ID, and the Belmatric hoses are 7mm ID. Not that I think it would matter. .5mm? And it might be that Belmatric just doesn't bother with 1/2mm sizing. All their stuff seems to be whole numbers.
Great catch, and thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know that about brake fluid. Any lines I've ever replaced have been hard lines. I just always thought that was due to pressure, but now I realize it eats rubber (like everything else. Brake fluid is some nasty stuff)

The european blue hose from Belmetric is not right. If you're buying from them, I recommend the black (BMW) hose.

The black braided hose from Belmetric is the same spec as the original Porsche blue hose, it has the same dimensions and it "feels" the same. The blue hose from Belmetric feels different, I've tried it and didn't like it. If all you're after is the color, the BM blue hose also looks different from the original blue hose. BTW, Porsche now provides a black hose.
