Who Has Done the "Snub Nose" Mod on their NA, Results? Pix?
I'm considering doing this mod soon. I've seen one car in person and one picture with it done and I think it's a subtle but definite improvment over stock. I prefer partilly pressed in, not entirely pressed in.
Yes, I know my "crashworthiness" is elminated. I've mulled that over for awhile. I think our cars aren't worth serious money to anyone but us. Something pretty minor will total it as is. This will make little or no difference in terms of it (financially) surviving a moderate crash. Anyway, anyone with pictures? Experience doing this?

Hey Dan,
I was going to do this too, and I'm local. Although, my car is not yet running. I figure it's a good freebie mod I can get out of the way while I'm working on the engine. I too think it looks much better than stock...about 1/2 way between the N/A nose and the 951 nose.
If you wanna arrange a weekend to do this, and come by my place in OC, we could give it a shot. I'm sure we could enlist some help too (hint!).

Sean,
Hi. I think this "mod" is simply drilling a hole in each bumper shock and staying out of the way when the oil spills out!
Sure, we could get together for ...whatever, but by the time I see you I will probably already have done this mod (for better or worse) and I'll be able to show you how I did mine. Right now I am waiting on some 16" PD's I am having full polished out your way in Anaheim. We can talk about that and a bunch of small stuff I've done on my car recently after having laid off it for awhile. PM me with your availability.
Still looking for pictures and advice....anyone?

So the front fascia under the bumper is a stock N/A piece on that car in the foreground?
It almost looks like a 951 from far away or spotted at speed! Looks great!
How do you secure the shocks in their collapsed positions after drilling them out and squishing them in? Bolt through the hole? Weld? JB? Doesn't seem like it would take much to secure them, but it would be annoying if the bumper were to shimmy itself forward somehow!

Sean, no one I've heard of has secured the bumper. It just doesn't move, I think.
Rockfan4 - Does the car in the far backgrond have the mod too? It looks like it does, but just doesn't have the bumperettes shaved and repainted like Damian's does. And I agree, this looks too good to pass up.

Any more pix out there?
By the way, if you shave the front bumperettes off, (and it does look excellent) what do you do to the rear ones? Seems like that might not look as good shaved. Any pix of that?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm willing to give it a shot on mine. If I dont' like the look of the clean rear end, I can always bolt them back on.
I think I may have a little more leeway here since my car and the bumperettes are both black, so it may be subtle enough to get away with removing them.
At any rate, I might find out tomorrow. After a few delays, the shipping company says the car *should* be in my driveway tomorrow.

I was going to ask that too - any pictures of the rear? I think it looks kind of silly to have a "smooth" or "turbo style" front (or variant, like this) and the "puffy" looking rear - too weird.

...these were the closest I could find, but they do help picture what a smooth rear bumper would look like. I like it...I'm removing both front and rear. Hooray for free mods!
