Hey Urin, where'd you find that model? Two comments - I love the fact it has the early MA license plate (I grew up there and owned several cars with those "green on white" plates. I'm not so old as to have ever had the pleasure of the "red on white" ones though. Are you from out that way? Second, I notice the "944" emblem is missing. Other than that - nice model. I'm not aware of any for the 944 (I've looked) so I've considered building one from scratch, but (obviously) that would take a long time. Might be a fun project though. . .

(OT)

Testors/Italleri made a 1/24 scale 951 model in red. They also made a 1/24 scale 944S. And, there is also the 951 "Pinky" race car model in 1/24 scale. I have all three unbuilt, waiting for my attention next winter.

Try ebay. Be prepared to pay $50-$75 for an unbuilt kit for any of the above.

*sigh*

I think I'm the only one who likes the stock look of the N/A.

It isn't bad. . . Granted the "turbo style" looks better, but you're increasing the value of yours by keeping it stock.

I call this the "I rearended someone" look. The big gaps between the body and bumper enhance the effect.

Yeah, so many of us are doing the bumperettes delete that your stock NA is now worth $30,000. Aren't you glad you listened to Porsche-O-Phile?!

Well, I'm half-way there! Rear-ended a Camaro and the RF shock collapsed, now just gotta get that LF to collapse...

Actually, I prefer the N/A look and never have liked the turbo look.

I also like the pushed in bumper, but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to do that (it would probably be protested as an aero improvement).

Drill it out, Bloodraven! I really don't know, sorry.

As for smushing in the bumper, and taking off the rubber, forget it!

I have been rear-ended, backed into, and parked on.

If I didn't have the bumpers out all the way, and without the pads, the car would have been totalled.

Efficiency for me works better than looks!

I like the snubnose look, but I like having the shocks there just in case. I was thinking of trying to fit turbo bumper shocks on there to shorten the bumber, but still have a shock there. Does anyone have a picture of the shocks next to each other? Are the mounting surfaces similar? Whats the length difference?

Actually, someone posted once about doing some junkyard scrounging to identify some 70's or 80's era bumper shock from maybe a domestic or something that could fit in place of the Porsche factory ones to achieve the same thing

Uh,....Yeah, you're right. But let's keep our eye on the ball.....we're talking about snub nose mods. Good catch though.

Here is a photo. The mounting surfaces are similar. The 951 ones weigh at least 1/2 or less. I don't have the measurements handy at the moment.

Loks likethe 951 shock would likely mount right up to the same frame point but there are a coupl of concerns. If the bumper is hit and driven into the body the car or whatever is doing the hitting will still come into contact wit the 944's body and damage it....so nothing gained there....UNLESS the shock in pretty drammatically stiffer to resist the hitting force. But then I question if that doesn't just transfer whatever dame does occur to the underlying frame member instead of the bumper. Of course that's the same thing that would happen with the straight up "drill a hole in the bumper shock" approach, so what have you gained by doing the fit up and mosunting/cost?
