Im wondering if this is the crux of my ongoing fuel delivery/engine smoothness/engine punch issues that started 6 weeks ago. Swapping FPRs had no effect. My fuel pump whines like a rhino right now. Fuel filter replaced 2,000 miles ago.

Hmm.

I tested mine at the DME and I know it fails on Wide Open Throttle (WOT). I have yet to determine if the failure is in the switch or wire connection. On the 944S I have been told that replacement of the TPS requires removal of the intake manifold so I have not replaced it yet. The idle speed contact is set correctly and the idle signal is correct at the DME connector so I am getting the correct idle out of the DME. WOT comes on at 2/3 throttle and changes the map in the chip. I know I am losing some power there but it runs pretty well so replacement is not a big priority. Things are probably a bit different as far as boost goes in the Turbo.

From the Porsche Service Manual for the 87 944S
Idle speed contact is measured at pins 52 to 24 and should be <10 ohms with throttle closed. Greater than 1 degree and it should be open.
WOT is pin 53 to 24 and should be open until the throttle is 2/3 of full travel after 2/3 full travel it should be <10 ohms.

Yep, It's time for me to do this too. When my car gets hot in traffic the idle all the sudden starts to wander 2000-3000. Plus when I let off you can feel that sudden engine braking effect which is pretty annoying in traffic. Time to dig out the old multimeter.

Cheers
