The shirts are fine, and I want to change the earrings, would I have to do something to the shirts?

Shirts? Maybe SKIRTS.

To change the rings I think you'd have to have the block honed using the special paste on a proper Sunnen honing machine. It's a unique process.

The final step is the an-30 paste… it wipes the aluminum away and helps expose the silica the paste is applied to felt pads .. i would do this before putting rings in .. as long as there is no ridges scoring think of it as waxing.. nothing special about the machine you can get the pads for a handheld drill type hone..

I guess it depends. Maybe you could provide a little bit more info here. Are you changing rings because of poor compression or a broken ring? How many miles on the engine? What's your budget and goal? Why did you open up this engine?

If your bores are not scored and compression is good, you should just keep the rings you have. You could install new rings if you have no scoring. It will run fine. It's not usually done this way for a performance build, but for a budget build it would be fine to just install new rings.
