Called Michigan DNR and got the number to Warren Dunes.
Here's what I found:
- No alcohol of anykind :-(
- There are several free (1st come) picnic areas right by the beach :-)
- Opens @ 8:00 AM (need someone to go and secure the spot early... any volunteers???)
- There is a fee to get in, like all state parks... forgot what is was though???
Leaving in a few minutes to go and check it out tonight. Will post back later.

Just got back from Warren Dunes. Talk about a beautiful sunset. It was a bit cloudy but still breathe taking. Put the new digital camera through it's passes for the first time today also.
Here's a taste of what you'll miss if you don't come to the GTG
A look to the West
The Northern Shore
I found the picnic site by the beach that I want. I'll post more later. Enjoy the pics.

From: Central Illinois. Cornfields a plenty.
Cory, I learned to hang glide there... It looked just like that.
IIRC the roads outside of Warren Dunes S.P. are heavily patrolled.
Outside chance I'll be there, with the furniture moving to Cinci this weekend.
(Unless I hit the lotto..))

DIRECTIONS...
Most will probably be taking 94 into Sawyer. The exits off 94 in Sawyer are closed. If you coming from the East, you'll need to exit 94 on exit #22 in Stevensville. Immediately after the exit, you come to a stop sign. Turn left on John Beers Road. You'll go over the top of 94 and come curve around until you come to a stop light, which is Red Arrow Highway. You'll want to turn right (south) and go 8.7 miles until you reach the park (on your right). Once you stop and pay at the entrance, go straight and we'll be the 3rd picnic area on the left hand side of the road. If you make it to the beach, you went too far. We'll be about a 2 min. walk from the beach in the pictures above.
Any further direction needs, let me know. Here is the address and phone #:
Warren Dunes
12032 Red Arrow Highway
Sawyer MI 49125
(269) 426-4013
My mobile number is (269) 357-1751 if you need to get a hold of me. As I said before, I'll be grillin' burgers and such and will supply all that goes with that. If you want a side dish or drinks, your welcome to bring something and it would be appreciated. I'll also supply paper plates and plastic silverware too.
Take Care,
Cory

OK, PM's are out. If you didn't get a PM and you're planning on coming, please let me know with a PM/e-mail or post to this thread as I want to make sure and bring enough food.
