Anybody Interested in a 911?

That is one CLASSIC looking car! The 1970 looks longer, sharper than the more modern 1980's 911's! Very nice!
I know what you mean about wanting more civility! I rode in a friend's Acura TL--makes my 944 feel like a bumper car! It's all relative I guess!

Have you ever sat in the back seat of a 944? Having sat in both, I have to tilt my head sideways in the 911, whereas in the 944, there's a tad more headroom.

I don't think I could actually manage to get in the back seat of my 944, I came to the conclusion that my 11 year old would have to sit passenger side and my 6 year old behind him because he ain't fittin behind me if they ever ride in the car

"This is incorrect. The 944, as a later car with a less sloping roofline, definitely has more headroom in the back seats, limited as it may be."
Dave (excellence) has owned both types of cars.
So have I, and I think there's slightly more room in my 911.

Thanks guys, if I lived on either coast it would be long gone, but so far I haven't found any midwesterners interested, or anyone who can make the trip here. Harry, I've always like the look of your 912, I've checked out your web page in the past, did you get your recent problems sorted out?

as for the problems im finding... they are becoming tougher. i cannot find a set of good p&c's for under 700. the only thing i can find are cheep sets that are made in china, and these are crap. they stopped making the good npr big bore kits 10 years ago, and if you can find em, they will be in my price range.. but with age comes other issues, like oxidation.. i dopnt wanna remachine a set of p&cs to clean up some corosion.
used p&cs that have been honed, can be found from a few hundered to 600.. but again.. who really wants to put used inside a motor when replacing them.. maybe im just skepticle.
shatsa p&cs.. the gift of the 912 gods.. 1200 for a set. mahle.. at least 1500. a set of 'nickies' will run more than 2k. you get the idea.. and im just a broke guy trying to put his motor together.
either way im ordering somthing today, as i cant leave my engine with the cylinders off too long or stuff my start drying out or what not on the inside.
the heads shouldnt be a problem, as remachining and putting in new springs and guides on both should only run about 300-400.
i just want somthing that can last for two years reliably. so thats why im just doing a top end. the bottom is fine.
after i get this done, im buying a core, and will start going to town, saving up my money for the good stuff. scatt ultralight crank, then main bearings, then shasta p&c.. then have the cam and valve train checked out.. buy new stuff if necessary (perhaps a slightly hotter cam than stock), then high performance oil cooler, have heads cleaned up, and do everything on the heads this time, including new valves.... have everything line bored and balanced. have sheet metal cleaned up and powder coated.. go to town building it.. i figure if i save and save and save and bust my ***, i can have a BITCHIN 130-140 hp motor.. and no life or money for anything else of course.
maybe im dreaming a bit.. maybe i should aim a lil lower. but in two years ill have a good strong rebuild.
ok, ok.. im comming back down to earth..
anyways keep the faith man, you will have a buyer.

Sounds like a good plan, don't sweat it on the rebuild, I'm sure you'll figure out something. I'd love to be able to give some quality advice, but I've never rebuilt a Porsche, so I'll stay out of this one. I agree with the midwestern wasteland thing, if the car was on the east or west coast it would be long gone, but I think it's only a matter of time. I put it on the early S registry, and 911T.org, really I've had more response from Pelican and Rennlist.
