Mine is used for light loads too bulky to carry inside the car. I sometime need it for Scottish festivals and highland games where I carry period artifacts displays (I do living history), canvas and equipment. My musket and 18th cent. rum keg always travel inside.
Have never used it for mountain bike rack yet, though I have the rack.
Top speed so far passing a Vette and pulling the trailer.... 95 mph
Jim 1987 944S (trailer: composite platform with 944 spindles, 16"PDs, and 944 taillight modules with Ice Shark light upgrade!!!)

SCular...
Just a simple trailer frame (extendable tongue). Epoxy/glass/foam/glass/epoxy platform. Had some scuffed 16" track wheels that I wanted to polish and use on the car (not quite finished them yet) and put the 15"ers from the car onto the trailer. The only bolt pattern was a VW transporter or Checker for hubs that match our wheels...so I went for 951 spindles (can even change camber with the axle I put together!)
Trailer has to have lights, so why not just use 944 lights (that way I always have a spare for the car if needed). I want to eventually build up an aluminium frame to replace the steel (just to be **** about it!).
This solution keeps the weight and aggrevation out of the car and allows me to carry a passenger along if need be.

I'd be interested in a tow hitch, if for nothing else than pulling it around my yard, when it's not working, something to hang on to without breaking a read bumper bracket, (blush, pink face, oops)
