When I first called them (KEP) it was $1040, it appears that price has dropped significantly in the last 12 months as I now see it at Paragon for $600.00

Ohhh man!

What ended up happening with the S? Still got it, or did someone ****** it?

I would have bought it...that's too funny, I just bought this black S with a spun rod bearing and the engine removed as well, almost exactly the same situation! I'm gonna start the rebuild soon. For what it would cost to fix the car, you're much, MUCH better off rebuilding it and THEN selling it...if you still have it, of course.

Spend $1k on rebuild parts, but then be able to ask an additional $4k for the car with a fresh motor!

$1k on rebuild parts? The new cams alone were close to that, add lifters and I'm already over that budget. Even with me doing 99% of the work, this rebuild is going to be around $4k if I factor in the prevous head work that was less than 3,000 miles before the bearing.

There are a few items I don't like using used, reason for the new cams. Mine were shreded when the tensioner broke.

Arrrgh. Yeah, my cams and lifters are A-Ok. I'm just in for bearings/gaskets and a few other things (clutch, H2O pump, maybe the chain tensioner and timing belt tensioner, and belts).

Take the head 100% apart. Here's why:

1. Your valve guides are probably shot
2. Valve job can't hurt anything
3. Metal chunks from the bearing not good for your cams/lifters/valves
4. Why not, your already this far!
