Fender Liner Nuts and Bolts - 1984 944
I picked up some fender liners (seeing as I have none) and now it has come time to install them. I cannot find the fasteners in the PET, but I believe that there are a couple of plastic nuts that thread onto studs on the fender. Does anyone have a part number for these? Are they T5? Also, what size bolts will I need, and how many?
Greatly appreciated

I was under the impression that only the later cars had fender liners. Where did you find a listing for them? The copy of PET I have doesn't show any- save the piece at the front left to keep water & debris out of the intake.

The early models have no provisions for mounting the late model plastic fender liners. They just weren't offered until mid 1985 with the update.
However I put some on my early car with a few selectively placed self-tapping screws about 10 years ago and it's stayed on just fine. I am going to be removing them soon as I don't need them anymore (long story) and they seem to just be in the way a lot of time when working on the car.

I think that they can be trimmed using a small pair of tin snips. Install the liner (mock-up) and locate the mounting holes that fixes them to the later car. You can use either self tappers or christmas trees (serrated body plugs) to hold them in place like modern cars use. If it doesn't fit well in some areas, use a heat gun to make the plastic more pliable..and conform better to the inside of the fender. They won't be an exact fit, but close enough to protect the inside of the fender from rocks and debris. If you drive primarily on gravel roads, with enough use, the rocks will cut the inside of the fender and eventually will cut right through the fender to the outside of the car. I had a car that had this misfortune..only found this damage after it was being totally stripped for painting.
