The confusion is my fault for an over-simplification.
The transmission main-shaft still turns like the engine (same rotation) but because it's a transaxle the output changes (because crown and pinion). If it was just a transmission it would not have the same effect.

Hi Conrad,
No I am not going to. I have worked to hard for what I have. To me the idea of buying a front wheel drive car and then putting the front wheel drive transaxle in the rear is a winning idea though. Like my toyota Yaris commuter. If I took that little 1.5litre/5 speed manual and put it in the rear (mid engine), would it not make for a neat driving experience?
In the case of the rear wheel drive, because I am a die hard fan of the porsche inline 4, I'd want to use it and it would stick out waaaaaay too much with the shortened TT and 944 transaxle (like 40 inches past the rear bumper, that you'd have to make a tube wrap-around bumper like the Baja bugs have.
In the safari and baja, the rear engined german cars (vw bug and 911) have more than proved their worth. I think it's better for THAT environment, to have maximum traction on the driving wheels.
But Wilson will handle better than those cars on the fast stuff. Remember the video a couple years back with the Porsche Macan vs the 944 T? I want Wilson to give the Macan a run for it's money. Even though wilson is much taller (6" + than stock n/a, the torsion bar is 28 and the coils are 250 and I have new shocks... sway bars if I choose... With 350 ftlbs of torque or whatever it is, this should be a pretty sporty car.... even if it's a bit narrow for the height. More point and shoot than the original 944, but hey!

Cut the welded pedal extensions off because these seats fit similar to stock and much higher & bulkier than the tube framed fixed racing buckets. Gone back to oem steering wheel and gear selector. The car is remarkably easier to get in and out of without the cage and being lifted. Can't wait to get it on the road this summer.

These seats are brutal to mount in the 944 but possible. It took me like 5 hours to mount. No fabrication required because I already made the mounts & previously had them fully mounted but then realized the pedals needed adjustment back to stock and my cat pee'd on my driver side floor & I removed to clean with vinegar and baking soda. I accidentally locked her in the garage-my fault.
Re-doing, or "fixing the errors of my past" you might say. The engine bay needs much love and it starts with making the frame cross member stronger and more OEM looking. After that, I can finish the rad mount & then clean up the body work on the nose. Then partially paint engine bay. Then paint outside nose/wings.
For those who don't know, I hacked up my front end to have the rad/cac/condensor on an angle, but the result was overheating.
