Default S2 Cabriolet Squeeks

Hi

On an uneven road there is a very annoying "squeeking" sound from the dashboard area -- no problems on a smooth road. Is this the inevitable effect of a less rigid chassis (as compared with the coupe) or is there a known "fix" for this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rehan

Mine used to make a creaking noise from underneath the dash. Turned out to be an easy fix - a little silicone sealant on the join where the centre console meets the dash.

Don't know if this helps - these cars can collect squeaks and rattles in LOTS of different places. I still have at least 3 other annoying noises to take care of...

rehan, the squeek can actuially come from anywhere.
the noise really reverberates and also depends on where your sitting,

I'd remove all loose things from in the car and try again,
culprits are dashboard, glovebox,console.

Possibly someone has even taken something apart and not put a scew back.

It's not as a result of the chassis, trus me there rigid !

If I were you invest in a good sound system and turn the volume up until you can't hear the creak !

Thanks Alex / Adrian

I am planning some major work on the interior this summer -- hopefully this will take care of missing screws, etc. Beyond that I suppose it is a hit-or-miss thing ..... !!

As regards a good stereo, can you recommend good speakers that will fit into the absurdly shallow area in the front doors WITHOUT any modifications to the door or the speaker??

Regards,

Rehan
