Wink Marker lights

Yesterday, Pfarah 7 and I worked on getting my recently installed clearance(marker) lights to work properly on my '83 944. It seems that whenever I turn the key to the on position, they go off. When I remove the key, they come on..Then if I jiggle the steering wheel a bit they go off. We thought at first it was a bad ignition switch, and it may be, but it might also be the contacts in the turn signal arrangement. Chime in if you have some info on this gremlin and how it may be corrected..Really don't want to take the entire dash apart , but it may be the only way to exorcise this little demon. Thanks in advance..

do you have a diagram for the '83 model year? blinker issues can be stalk or hazard switch related but the standing/parking lamps are usually tied at the headlight switch (the 58 terminal).

marker lights come from the headlight switch which has a red wire coming in off the battery so they can run with key out

there is a grey wire on the ignition switch that is hot with key IN but turned OFF only, i think its for the radio relay/sunroof.

but if you havent messed with your wiring before i would only think it's a ign switch thing.
with key turned to ON there is a black/yellow stripe wire that goes from the ign switch to the headlight switch - not sure if that takes over providing power to markers or if markers are always on battery hot.

It was an interesting problem... I'm leaning toward either a faulty turn signal lever assembly or some wiring getting pinched when jiggling the steering wheel. I've had issues in the past where the entire lever assembly came apart due to broken securing tabs. It was weird that the left side marker lights would remain on with the ignition key out or inserted into the ignition switch (but not turned), but would shut off once the key was turned either to the Accessories or On position.

Unplug the green wire from terminal P of the ignition switch and see if the problem goes away. If so, your turn signal switch is likely bad.
