They seem to be the all season versions of the pilot sport 4

Yes, those where the tires I had on my v70r. It's a very different car compared to the 944 but I was not impressed with them. I have always loved Michelins but these where very disappointing.

I had a set of those on my 99 Boxster and tracked the car with them, they were pretty decent tires and actually I'm still driving on them after several track days. I think you will like them

maybe because all season tires suck as performance tires?

Joseph, that's good to hear. It's my first experience with Continentals so I'm hoping they perform well. Regardless the price/performance ratio is good.

All season tires are NO season tires.

The treadwear is pretty low on the extreme contacts compared to the pilot sports, and even though the extreme contacts are cheaper and may provide more performance, I will still probably go with the pilots because they will last longer. Just the way I'm thinking about it

i hear you on the treadwear rating. Not an issue for me as this 944 is a weekender and I'll put maybe 3 to 4 thousand miles on it per year. They will likely age out before wearing out.

That is exactly what I'm looking for, something that has decent performance but most of all lasts a while.
