Default Springs are TOO low??

Hey guys I've been doing a lot of work on my 86 951. For suspension I did the Koni adjustable inserts all around courtesy of Paragon and I figured I would through in some new springs to replace the 18year old ones on the car with Weltmeister 200# springs. Its SLAMMED!`It says approximatly 1"from stock but this thing looks insane... I took some pics but does anyone have any I can compare mine too? Also does anyone have a similar setup and can give me their impressions?

Heres my options:
1.) I noticed they do have spring spacers should I drop $45 on a set or will this whole combination negativly impact my handling?

2.) Are there other springs M303 option or something that would be better and Ebay the Weltmeisters?

3.) Leave it and pray over speedbumps? Hell I might not even make it out of my driveway...

Thanks,
Zack

hmmmm the pic isn't working for me...so i can't really compare. i have the same set up on my '83 though and mine is just right......sooooo ya.
lowering your car no matter what you will probably just want to avoid speed bumps all together and just find a way around them.

pic just worked...do you have any more from some other angles? its kind of hard to tell

hmmm, something is definitely not right judging by the pic i can see. looks like your fender is riding right on the tire, which is not right.

i picked up a pair of those springs for my 951 3 yrs ago, and the ride height was a little bit lower than stock but not that significant. do you have all the stock suspension components otherwise? struts, spindles, control arms, etc? maybe someone changed out the struts before you purchased the car or something. i would call paragon and let them know what's up.

can you take a better pic for better perspective?

ps - some of the pics of my 951 on my website are with the weltmeister springs, but they may be too dark to tell much

Ya there is Negative wheel gap! The tire is actually up a tiny bit inside the fender but i can still turn the wheels either way without it rubbing? The only thing is I havent done is mounted the sway bar back up but that shouldnt do anything. The setup in there was Sachs and Black springs with 1 or 2 yellow dots, so I assume it was all stock and original and everything else looks it as well. I am getting bump stops in the mail and will be taking it all out again so maybe after ressembling they will look right. The springs also did not need a spring compressor to put on the strut assembly and get the top mount on is that normal?

There is a sometime used standard that says the lip of the fender shouldn't be more than 13.5" from the center of the wheel.

At the bottom of this page.
AX pictures
There are a few pictures of my 2 cars. The one with the Fukes (right) is box stock, the other (left) is lowered using coilovers. It's right about 13.5". It's been a while since I've measured it.

Sorry, I can't tell you if this normal for 200lb lowering springs.

I have the same mods and the same concerns. I have spoken with Jason at Paragon about getting the spacers but I am getting used to the look and slowing down over bumps.

My car measured 25.25 inches from the ground to the top of the fender before the springs and 24.25 after. I did have to use the spring compressor to get these springs in.

I used to be able to see the tops of the tires but can't now. No issues yet with rubbing despite what it looks like. Wondering now if I should lower the rear to make it even.

Doesn't look too bad, hard to tell from the angles though. What size tires are on the front? How's she doin by the way? Happy with the purchase?

I'm doing some research to find out if my memory is shot.
Here is one quote from the renegade archives that says it's 13".

"My region has a fairly high minimum height for 944s (13" from center of the front wheel to the wheel arch) "

These are fairly old archives, and things may have changed by now.

It is not normal for the ride height to be so low with just using the 200# lowering springs. Let's see a good few pics of the strut assembly, please (with wheel of, or preferably out of the car. If I'm missing something in the setup, maybe adding the spacer will be required. I'm pretty sure I've done a few of these and not had that problem.

Here's a pic of the Welt 250's with 1" spacer and stock strut mounts (sorry for the size, but want you to see the detail clearly):

Ok, I haven't totally lost it..

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hreadid=118548

Granted these are race cars that we're talking about. A street car might not have quite the stress on the ball joints/control arms.
I still haven't found a 'rule' that backs this up.

I measured mine and it's on the ragged edge of 13". The fender is still about 1/2" above the tire.

Read in the manual a few times where you can "adjust stock ride height" on the shocks 13mm. Haven't been in there to try it. Front springs are next on my list.

Can your shock adjustment be "backed off"? 13mm= almost a half inch which would put you just about right.

Can this even be done?

For what it's worth I had a mechanic install my springs over a year ago and it was SLAMMED as well. I got used to it. So Skip, you're saying that isn't good on the car?? My suspension was stock 89 na with only the 200lbs springs I got from Paragon.

Matt.....car looks great...you have my rims....running spacers?

I think it is not good for the car only if you are getting rub...like from autox bumps etc. Otherwise it just amounts to looks.
