Default Windshield washer tank leaks

My windshield washer tank is leaking, are they repairable? or maybe not?. I assume it comes out from the underside of the car.
Also, my front bumper is pushed in further one one side as if the shock is fully retracted. Are these spring or gas filled, or friction? How do they absorb impact? Thanks, went for a run today, I'm getting used to my 944.
To the person who suggested tapping the dash to free up my MPG gauge, one tap did it, now it works fine.

The washer tank is huge. Any idea where the leak is from? I have wanted to "tap into" the bottom of mine to install a drain. If yours is leaking in a low spot you may want to try the same thing.

As for repair....I have had good luck with Marinetex from the marine supply stores. It is like bondo only 1mill.x better. Used it extensively on sportbike fairings. I even used it on a washing machine plastic tank that is still holding after 5 years.

I am pretty sure the bumper shocks are a one time use type item, in other words once the piston is contracted, the shock will not have the same compression when re-extended. They go for about $5-10 on ebay.

Was the washer tank damaged from the bumper being pushed in? You can try some type of epoxy maybe to seal it if its a tiny leak.

Read this thread on replacement of the tank...

Mine came out from underneath - you need to have the headlights raised.

My repairs held if I only put water in the tank - I think ww fluid would contribute to the patch failing.

After repairing it 3 times in 6 years, I got sick of it and found a good used one on ebay.

Good point, maybe the collapsed bumper shock punctured the tank. If it's a small hole, I'll try Brownells Acraglas Gel, that is what I use to glas-bed rifles for accuracy and you can use it for yobs like this, it's ideal. Thanks, I'll look for a used shock, I'm in Canada, we have some used parts folks up here too.

Mike..... Since you already have one pushed in shock, Search "bumper mods" or front bumper. They look pretty cool totally recessed with the pads removed.

Well it would look cool, but I need the shock absorbing qualities of those shock if some berk backs into me to protect the frame.

...not sure about your 83, but make sure it isn't just leaking from the washer pump grommet. Mine was leaking from there and I only found out when I had to replace my pump...

Hmm, if the front bumper was pushed in, where is the leak from?
Is it coming out the front bumper? When mine was hit (during the PO's time), it split the hose inside the bumper. There is no check valve before the headlight washers, and it always leaked out the bumper.
Otherwise, it could be the holes for the headlight washer pump, or a crack in the tank.
It comes out the bottom pretty easily. 3 bolts =)
It's just a little snug sneaking by the power steering cooler (if applicable).
