Default Rear Hatch Latching Seal

944-512-365-01 and 944-512-366-01 are listed in the PET as the pn's for L and R hatch latch seals. However, when I plug those numbers into Sunset Porsche it states that these are not compatible with my '89. In fact it only shows compatibility with the 924 (https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...ck-94451236501) . Pelican's page shows it fitting 944s up to MY1988 (https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...istory=catalog). Can anyone shed some light on this? Will this fit the '89? Is the pn for the '89 different? NLA?

TY!

I ordered and installed these very seals into my 89. Appears to match the PNs you listed.

The latest numbers end in -02 so 944-512-365-02 & 944-512-366-02 are what you need. Chances are if you ordered the earlier numbers these are what you would get anyway.

I'm not seeing an 02 version listed at Sunset or Delaware. And as far as looking up parts at any of these dealer sites their catalogs have many mistakes and P/Ns I know are correct their catalog says "This part does not fit your 1990 944 S2 (or 1989 944 Turbo).

-02 versions are showing up on Sunset for me. They are also listed as the latest version in the 968 PET which has a lot of superceded numbers for the later 944 cars not in the earlier PET.

Showing in stock but idk how accurate that is, best to call them first and check.

944-512-365-02

944-512-366-02

This is why the wealth of info here is so important. TY huskeric, MAGK and Tom for your input.

Yep, you are correct. I just looked up the 01 part and it did not supersede to the 02 part, which seems odd if they are functionally the same. The 968 hatch is slightly different than the 944/951 as the sealing rubber is mounted to the body instead of attached to the hatch, so it could be that these two parts are not necessarily interchangeable? Would be good to know since the 02 is less expensive.

Yes it would be good to confirm they are interchangeable, I’ve always thought (read somewhere) that the last two digits are just an update to the part rather than a different part altogether.

Exact replacements, identical to those fitted from factory.
