Default What's with these eBay sellers?

I sent questions to each of these sellers asking about age of belts, clutch, and if bodywork was done this morning.

One lives 15 miles from me, i could drive over with cash.

No one answered me yet, and the dealer in florida had since sunday.

Go figure. Caveat emptor

944 S2 47k, repainted - why was it repainted? cant tell ya since he hasnt answered me This car looks vaguely familiar. should i not have asked about the tensioner belt and shocks? am i too nosey?

85.5 with 57k, other 944 in driveway, and he sold a 944 motor. how long has he owned car? dont know since he hasnt answered me

84 with 47k how old are the belts, any body work. fuchs look worn for only 47k why? who knows, no reply to questons.

The S2 looks nice but I would wonder about a repaint also.
The other two look like you should add 100K miles to the odo's. i don't buy the mileage on either one. If the mileage is accurate, they've had a hard life.

That second one... It has the cone filter, Well, that little hose that connects to the air box is connected BEHIND THE FILTER! any air that enters the engine through that is un filtered. I'd be nervous....

If you follow that little hose you'll find it doesn't actually lead into the engine, but rather into the belt cover. All it does is help keep the belts clean. I believe there is even a service bullitin about how to properly remove this hose as it was deemed unnessesary. You won't find it on the Turbo's or 16v engines either.

Those cars have already met the reserve price, so the seller may feel that he's done enough to generate interest in the car.

Did you see the thread last week where a Rennlister saw his car on e-bay offered by someone else?

Someone copied pictures of this car, right down to the vin and stereo, from when it was offered for sale over a year ago, and relisted it as his own.

He posted both adverts and was going to contact the FBI.

I've purchased and sold alot on e-bay. But always beware.

Good luck!

But it's in the suction...so if there is any dirt in there whatsoever, it gets sucked into the engine. In the stock airbox, it's above the filter, so any dirt that flows through the hose into the cylinders is filtered. In this case, no. That hose may be there for stupid reasons, BUT the air flow from the filter won't go into the belt area, it'll flow from the belt area into the engine. I'd be much happier if that air were filtered.

OT - Tom, I've been searching for my original window sticker for you and can't find it. I swore it was in my documents folder and now it is not. All I can find on that related topic is the MPG decal that was in the window. I'll keep looking, sorry for the delay...............

Predator wouldn't see anything wrong. Probably why he didn't answer that strange belt question, it's got a chain, don'cha know? No pics of the engine either.

I'm just wondering why he will only accept Paypal for the transaction.

Oh, wow, I was missing something there. I thought he had just capped that hose off (as is normal to do), but he actually connected it into the intake...or so it looks. I get ya now....yeah, that would be the first thing to fix. Just remove that hose entirely and cap off the holes left on both ends.
