That's true, I noticed that much play with the slave cylinder out. I guess its the fork moving between the flanges of the throw-out bearing. So maybe the pedal is just out of adustment. I've never had to adjust the pedal on my car, although I've had 3 slave cylinders. Maybe I've just been lucky.
