Hard to tell and I haven't had my handles off in a while. On mine, the handle casting itself broke off at a pivot point so it wasn't salvageable.

Hey sp1990, I’ve dealt with many a door handle issue and no, you do not need a new door handle. You need a new door lock linkage, easily ordered from Pelican parts.
part #944-537-261-02-M100
They’re very reasonably priced and not too hard to install. I recommend taking the broken part off that’s still likely connected to your car inside the door slot and adjust the new linkage to the same length by counting the threads that meet the little ball on the door lock. You’ll see what I mean and if you don’t, let us know. Also a good idea to replace the door hinge pin that holds the linkage to the door handle but don’t have to. I once had an issue where the reused pin kept popping out of place.

On my 951 I installed plastic VW handles, because to me, ABS plastic is superior to cheap crappy pot metal. And the guide tab is actually a steel insert anyway, so win/win.
