My assumption is that with the larger wheels and larger mass their engines do not produce enough Torque to adequately accelerate the car. So when they are drag racing they have the stock wheels to enable them to accelerate faster. Essentially it lowers their gear ratio.

Then they keep the nice wheels on back to let you know they have some Bling Bling.

No, seriously guys. The "imitating FWD drag racers" seems to be the official reason for this.

So, when riceboy sees that on tv, he'll overlook the physics behind it and automatically assume that it'll help him, too.

Granted, it does help a bit with straight-line acceleration. Or, should I say "it doesn't hinder straight-line acceleration as much" because the stock wheel/tire combo is going to be lighter than the blingin' rimZ that would otherwise be on there. But still, it's pretty stupid.

exactly, i know many people who do this for this exact reason (they say so themselves), why is beyond me... haha...

Sounds like a cross between NASCAR and Rice... the crowd can only see the left side, and I only need to turn left... why put the good wheels on the right?!?!

How horribly stupid.

I figure they are only making themselves look like @$$holes so what does it matter. I just drive by, point and laugh and watch the tears flow. Most ricers are pretty emotional.

I find that in my area, most of them are, *ahem* wiggers (can I use the "w word"??)... you know lil' gansta white boys that try to act like a minority. It's like "guys, you aren't hardcore pimps... get over it... oh yeah, and your car looks AND sounds like ****! Just FYI!" The funny thing is, the majority of this Eminem-impersonaters never came from rough neighborhoods... they're mommies and daddies are pretty well off! Can you say "LOOOOSSSSEEERRRR!"

The whole different wheels on different sides thing? Yeah... I've seen it... he!!, look at the colors closely on this Enzo!!
