OT: why do ricers do this...
Of all the stupid things that the riceboys around this town do, the one I really don't understand is the habit of having a nice new clean 17/18" rim on the back wheels and running a stock steel 15" wheel on the front. What the hell is that about? Can they only afford two wheels after blowing all their money on that bigass wing and fartcan muffler? I'm perplexed. I suppose they don't want to shred expensive 17" tires, but what's the point of running good tires on the back when you have junk on the front (drive) wheels?

nobody will ever understand the complex mind psychology of the ever elusive rice boy. To understand one, you must learn the language, then you may begin to penetrate the process of reason. This on taking is of such challenge, that rarely has anyone ever succeeded.

I think it's some mentality of a combination of looks and practicality....I was thinking they put the big aftermarket rims on the wheels that deliver the power, then I'm reminded that many ricerockets are front wheel drive...
Another thing they do is they have their body-kitted, aluminum-winged, altezza-lighted car, but the wheels are just the stock black wheels without hubcaps...anyone seen that??? what the freak..

If they are out doing burnouts, which seems to be a ricer fad right now to show off (saw one the other night at Wal-Mart....woohoo!!! not....) then using their regular cheap wheels and equally cheap tires to do burnouts on makes sense. They apparently occasionally do have some sense of knowing that big tires cost more money and if they want to do burnouts, cheaper tires are better to do them with. Of course by driving around with said ugly wheels on the front, they look every bit more ricey with the big wheels in the back....

I used to say it was because they could only afford two wheels at a time. But in reality, I'm pretty sure it's because they are playing "monkey-see, monkey-do" after watching the drag races. Most FWD drag racers put smaller-diameter wheels/larger sidewalls up front to aid in racing. So, when riceboy sees that on tv, he'll overlook the physics behind it and automatically assume that it'll help him, too.
Granted, it does help a bit with straight-line acceleration. Or, should I say "it doesn't hinder straight-line acceleration as much" because the stock wheel/tire combo is going to be lighter than the blingin' rimZ that would otherwise be on there. But still, it's pretty stupid.

I'm pretty sure they're either 'saving up' for the other rims, or more commonly, they bent one or two of their rims from a combination of the ultra low profile tires and driving like asses, and they just replace it with the stock 'steely'.

I don't know - front wheel drive cars look absolutely STUPID with the bigger wheels on the front (even though that's where they make the most sense), so I'd like to say that maybe it's something to do about having some taste or aesthetic knowledge about how a "real" automobile is supposed to look (either all 4 the same or bigger in back), but obviously there is little aesthetic knowledge present in the ricer community given their prediliction towards other choices like the lowering kits, mismatched body panels, wings, fart cans, etc. . . Puzzling it is. . .

I laugh when I see cut springs as well. Its even funnier when I get to see the thing in motion...
