The part that usually fails is the part in the upper left of the picture of the hatch release motor in one of the pictures (with a drain tube coming from it). that is a latch that grabs the pin that comes down.

Beerburner.. thanks so much for spending the time on that for me... that pretty much cleares up wiht i need to know.. just one last q. You can probably explain it without another picture.

The cable coming from the release motor... it has a big clip at the lock end side of it.. where does it attach? its kind of hard to tell. is it just going around the release arm that is coming fromt eh right side of the car? just clarify that for me and i should be all set. thanks a million.

I'm having a bit of a tough time trying to figure out which cable you're talking about. This is probably because I just recently woke up and haven't had my coffee yet. So, I just took a couple more pictures in hopes that we get lucky.

Not yet! ok.. here . i made it clearer

the end of the clip i pointed to , im wondering what its around back there. not sure if you ccan even get a picture of that, but if you can explain it anyway, that would help..just wondering what that clip (whichis at the end of the cable that goes to the release motor is attached to in this picture. hopefully this clears it up.

Gotcha. The "loop" hooks around the bar coming in from the lower right. Install that bar like the one on the other side of the car, and hook the cable around that bar.

Here's a shot from underneath. Sorry about the blur, but the camera was too close. Anyway, you can see where it fits in there.
